I get the same problem on the latest Hardy Heron. I am using compiz with the Human Theme customized. if i click two text files from nautilus, they open in different windows instead of the same window, two tabs. really annoying. a solution would be greatly appreciated. -- gedit opens two

Ok Sebastien, 1. Customise your window theme so that your window border is the default 'Human' 2. In nautilus click on a text file so that it opens in gedit 3. Go back to nautilus and click again on the same text file. The first gedit window will get focus and no new copy of the file will be

hi Sebastien, I'm not sure your question was directed to me, but both clicking on the txt and invoking gedit from cli resulted in the same issue. The only thing that matters, in my case at least, is the window border theme. -- gedit opens two instances of the same file

Hi Guido, thanks for your bug report. I am unable to reproduce this on an up-to-date Hardy. If I try to open to same file twice via the GUI or CLI, it just focuses the tab that the file is in, it does not open a new one anywhere. Do you have a different setting enabled that allows this? In

ok, it took me a while, but I managed to reproduce the bug with a vanilla hardy up-to-date (I did a fresh install): it happens with several window border themes. To reproduce: for example change the default Human window border to Glider and then try to open twice a txt file. -- gedit opens two
