Planteaba la necesidad de una teoría semántica general que por ejemplo respondiera a preguntas como: (1) ¿Cuantos rasgos semánticos suelen definir una palabra? Por ejemplo 'mujer' es la unión de dos rasgos [+ humano][+ femenino], mientras que 'varón' es [+humano][- femenino]. (2) Existen reglas o patrones que expliquen metáforas casi universales como la pata de la mesa, la copa de un árbol o algunas más particulares como la cabeza de un tornillo. (4) ¿Podemos construir una teoría generativa de la semántica, es decir, que con una serie de rasgos semánticos y una serie de reglas podamos reconstruir gran parte del léxico de una lengua? (5) Así como existen los fonemas y los morfemas (estos últimos algo más problemáticos) existen los sememas? o por el contrario las estructuras semánticas se parecen más a la sintaxis. [Sé que todas estas preguntas son un tanto vagas, pero prometo enviar un día de estos una lista más concreta] [Mariano] Hasta cierto punto cabría decir que el generativismo a la Noam Chomsky es por principio ambigüo entre el nivel b) y el c), para Noam Chomsky no hay un nivel de la semántica superior al de la sintaxis, pero reconoce que hay un nivel que consideraré que es el de la pragmática. - [David] Cuando examinamos una lengua polisintética vemos que muchos de los análisis sintácticos más o menos convencionales que se nos enseñan a aplicar al inglés o las lenguas europeas, encajan mal. O lo mismo en lenguas como el Yimas (Papua-New Guinea) o el Yanomamï (Frontera Venezolano-Brasileña) en que todos los elementos aparecen indexados en el verbo (curiosamente el Hwï~ri thëpë copiaba ese aspecto del Yimas, pero acabó teniendo extraños parecidos completamente casuales con el Yanomamï), en esas lenguas los nucleos léxicos parecen más bien elementos periféricos y que sirven para concretar el sentido de la predicación holofrástica del verbo. Creo que si la sintaxis, tal como la entiende Chomsky de verdad incluyera a la semántica esta debería explicarnos porqué una lengua decide ser ergativa, acusativa o ninguna de las dos, ojo a lo mejor estoy diciendo una tontería. Pero creo que eso es externo a la sintaxis de una lengua. Hola a todos. Deseo comentar algo sobre la palabra vasca /anaie/ hermano. Siempre me ha interesado su estructura altamente irregular para ser una palabra nativa. Es evidente que ha perdido más de algún fonema, pero ¿cuáles? Por otra parte, /anaie/ comparte su primer elemento con /ahaide/ pariente. La diferencia es que, en vasco antiguo, el primero poseía una nasal fortis (que se ha reducido) y el segundo una nasal lenis (que ha caído): *aNa/*ana. Ayer se me ocurrió una idea que no creo haber leído en ninguno de los grandes, desde Azkue a Trask: /anaie/ y /ahaide/ provendrían de la misma palabra original, con una diferencia de énfasis fónico: anaie *aNa-kide ahaide *ana-kide con /kide/ compañero, con-, palabra muy productiva en vasco, por ejemplo en /adiskide/ amigo *adinez-kide compañero de-edad, y relacionada con el comitativo /-kin/ (*ki(de)-n?). La diferencia *aNa/*ana no es anecdótica. Hay indicios de que las raíces indígenas vascas se distribuyen en pares simple-enfático con una diferencia semántica entre ambos, como quizás venga a comentar otro día. Desconocía la forma /anaie/.¿Es un forma antigua? Creo que la forma actual para hermano en vasco es /anai/, en casi todos los dialectos. Existe una forma dialectal bizkaina /anaie/ que significa: el hermano y cuya e final corresponde al articulo (a para la mayoria de dialectos).
