Dave,
The question is whether any app is being starved for CPU
resources during critical operations.
Is there a way to tell if that is happening?

My pleasure Russell. Your signal was just fine when you called, but the band
changed quickly after that. I'll be on tomorrow (Saturday) evening so stop
by if you get a chance.

Hello All
I have upload a sample file(Sample1a.mp3) of a unknown protocol on the
files area, it keeps transmitting every night on 3.733, over my
reception of digisstv.
Sounds like a link connection between several stations, and don't let
me hear nothing.
I would like to know if somebody knows
Dave,
IMO any data program will be talking to the soundcard with a nice big FIFO so
CPU shouldn't be an issue. From memory I use a 10 second FIFO on receive and 2
second on transmit.
I can't think of any problems that could arise as long as there are some free
CPU cycles. What am I missing?
each processor core can only execute one instruction at a time, for one
application at a time. the data bus can handle either one (32 bit) or two (64
bit) operations at a time.
that you can see 5 windows open at once is the magic of the video processor and
persistence of vision.

You'll need a more fine-grained indicator of CPU usage; try Googling.
When you have multiple applications decoding the same incoming stream, peak
CPU loads are likely to occur simultaneously. To assure an
apples-and-apples comparison, run each application on a dedicated PC.
73,
You're making assumptions about the internal structure of the application,
Simon. If you're correct and all of the applications being measured are
well-buffered, then fine. But its relatively easy to overrun the buffers in
PSKCORE, for example; while it informs its client when that happens, the
Maybe tomorrow night, but thanks for the offer - gotta go to a wedding
tonight. It tuned up easily and printed no problem in MixW 2.18. I just
never could get it to lock on with DM 780. Probably my fault.

All,
Just learned about Multipsk's Voice mode thanks to Sholto (KE7HPV). It's
an Olivia mode derivative that uses 8 tones with a bandwidth of 168 Hz. It's
called Voice because it has the ability to vocalize incoming characters.
I'm sure Patrick developed the mode with sightless hams in mind

Surfin': Going ATV Digitally
By Stan Horzepa, WA1LOU

This week's Surfin' considers Web sites where Amateur Television (ATV) is going
digital.
Hello Tony and all,
Yes Voice is done for blind or partially sighted Hams (very sensitive and
automatic tuning). I added the same system in JT65, but in JT65 it is
simpler as you need only the Function keys (F1 to F12) to do the QSO.
In Voice and JT65, characters can be repeated to the speaker

THANK YOUTHANK YOU..THANK YOU!!
To all of you that participated in the TARA PSK Rumble we appreciate your
support and we hope you enjoyed the contest. The band conditions sure were not
the best but by the time this contest comes around next year they'll be
that much better.
I
Thanks to all at TARA for organizing it.
I had about 4 hours in the contest, had to be away with my daughter in
a sports event most of the time. Best hour i had was 0100-02000 when
I ran 17 stations on 80M. 9 mults.
I had difficult on 40 and 20, many over driven stations plus generally

I know most are probably tired of PSK31 after the Rumble, but would
someone be willing to meet me on the air so I can run a couple of
tests? Specifically, I need to find out how high or low my transmit
signal is from receive.
Most contacts that answered my CQ did so a bit lower than where I
Patrick,
Thanks for the info on the Voice mode. I've noticed that the vocalization
audio is sent to the sound card output that goes to the rig. Is there a way
to route it to the PC speakers instead?
Thanks,
Tony, K2MO
