Hi all;
I have an 800 MHz AMD computer with 512 MB RAM and primary 40 GB HDD and
secondary 80 GB HDD divided into three virtual discs of 40, 20, and 20 GB. I am
running Windows XP.
I would like to install LINUX on the third 20 GB virtual disk. Questions:
1.. Is it possible?
2.. If yes,

This is very good news that you can run Irfanview. This is my main
quick viewer that I have used for many years and find it about the
best there is. And if you can actually run Multipsk under Wine, that
solves a major problem too.
By now I would have expected someone to have a web site or some

When I boot up a Linux Live CD or DVD (depending upon the particular
distribution), it seems to automatically connect to the internet without
anything being done to the existing router. I wish I could say the same
for being able to read existing files on the hard drive.

Not that it helps dialup, but speakeasy is quite Unix friendly, and
competitively priced. They market mainly to the extra-savvy
crowd...they advertize their latency times, for example.
There are some around, but not many.

I would like to announce that I have posted fldigi, release 1.01.
This release consists of GPL source code written in C++ and uses the
Fast Light Toolkit gui support libraries. There is also a
pre-compiled binary that is known to operate on several Linux distros
including the Ubuntu derivatives.
I am at that point that I could switch, even if I have to give up some

absolutely have to have certain Windows only software that I used to

One more note re. Puppy. The originator of Puppy is

I have tried out quite a few live distros. None really impress me from a
graphics standpoint because Linux is different than Windows and just
does not have the finesse or whatever it is that it is missing. But it
is still quite functional.
