In casee someone is interested, I´m calling CQ in PSK31 in 50.290. I´ll be
calling the next 2 or 3 hours.

I'm there with you, but so far I don't see anything, although there
are a few station in Puerto Rico who are working into Europe on CW.

Yes - sorry, you get the popup when talking with QRZ.com. IE is not
Microsoft's finest piece of code, I will be looking at the code over the
weekend as I think I can disable these popups myself.
FWIW I use the IE engine.

signals but is not present in the receiver when the computer has
anything else on including the internet home page. Anyone have any

What has been happening all along is that we have an aging population of
hams and some come into the hobby later on, sometimes even after
retirement. This pulls up the average age. When I was first interested
in ham radio (1957), there was almost no way to get information and hard
to find

The amateur radio's community rapidly adopted PSK31 once panoramic
reception on soundcard-equipped PCs became available.
Given this rapid transition, it seems unlikley that the amateur
community then shifted gears en amsse and refused to consider all
subsequent advances in digital mode
I am using a G4ZLY dual usb interface, Windows XP and the
computer is a HP 1.6ghz with 1mb ram. The soundcard is the internal
computer card. When signals are stronger it is not as noticeable but
when band condx are not so good it makes it tough to copy. Tnx Mike

By chance is the HP 1.6 gHz compter a laptop? If so, try unplugging
the power adapter while the noise is being generated or when it is
bothering your receiver. If that is not the problem, do you have an
external monitor running? If so, try turning off just the monitor
while you are seeing the
