There is an extension that transforms Write documents to one of the
digital Braille formats, without converting it first to Braille code
points, as defined by Unicode. (It isn't DBF. Years ago, when I asked
Duxberry (¿sp?) about their file format for writing an OOo import/export
filter, the reaction was an extremely rousing "No way Jose".)

In a similar vein, there are/were extensions that can (^1) import/export:
* .epub;
* .fb2;
* .mobi;
* .LIT;
* .PDB;
* OSIS;
amongst other file formats.

Furthermore, there has been some discussion about migrating the code
within LibO that imports/exports "obsolete" file formats into an
extension.

I don't remember if "obsolete" was formerly defined. From my
perspective, any file format whose primary software for creating/editing
had an End-of-Life more than 15 years ago, is "obsolete".

There is also the issue of identical file extensions that are used for
two or more very different file formats. By way of example, both Word
Perfect, and Microsoft Works have extensions in common.

^1: More precisely, the extension developer claims that it does so. Back
when I tested them, the purported functionality was usually, shall we
say, somewhat lacking.

Thank you very much!

I had even checked the .xcd files to see the file support in LibreOffice,
since I noticed that even encrypted documents could be opened without
problem.

Re: [tdf-discuss] WPS Office native document files are officially supported in LibreOffice?

2016-11-08 Thread Hugo Alejandro
I know, I understand how the community works and this is not the best place
to remember it, since I am asking if can confirm some information and tell
me if there is an official source to confirm it, but: how to complete the
remaining information if I do not know which Import/export filters are
available in LibreOffice?.

It is part of the question I ask here and say that a file format works
simply because I tried it and it works is irresponsible, so I am interested
in knowing where I can get that information and if necessary write on the
The Document Foundation wiki too .

Joel, do you know if WPS Office documents are officially supported in
LibreOffice? Thank you

The wiki can be edited, if it's incomplete, update itthat's how the
community works.

Thank you

I looked at that list and is incomplete, Considering documents that are
supported and do not appear in the list. In addition the extension .wps
format refers to one of Wordperfect (WPEntrust Signed Document). I
have also seen
that LibreOffice has a good support MS Works documents (.wps also).
I mean another .wps format with the MIME type "application/wps-office.wps".

Hugo, the article on LibreOffice in the English-language version of
Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice) provides a list of
supported file formats ; for example, it is noted that .wps
files can be read, but not written to. I did not find any information
