  Hi.

I'am not sure these e.mail addresses are the right ones for
sending users feed-backs and suggestions (I would suggest to
make the right e.mail address for this purpose more clear and
immediate in the contacts page)

After struggling for over 1 year, sadly I had to stop using Open
Office Impress and go back to Microsoft Power Point.

Please find enclosed the major gaps of O.O. Impress which I have
found greatly hamper the use of this program to create and
editing slides.

Hope you may rapidly improve the software.

Best regards.

Sergio

As another list subscriber has already indicated, this is a general
discussion list and very few, if any, developers read posts to this
list.
The correct place to submit a RFE (Request For Enhancement) is the
QA Project: http://qa.openoffice.org/

Our original sponsors (Sun/Oracle) recently donated the
OpenOffice.org project to the Apache Foundation. Due to numerous
licensing issues and the need for a massive structural
reorganisation, it seems unlikely that a version of the re-branded
Apache OpenOffice will be released within the next 6-12 months.

Yet another list subscriber suggested that you might consider
testing LibreOffice http://www.libreoffice.org/ from the Document
Foundation http://www.documentfoundation.org/ You may find this to
be a better short or long term option, because LibreOffice includes
features and enhancements that our original sponsors would not
incorporate into OpenOffice.org

I´m using GMail with the web (AJAX) interface.
Emails sent are sent in plain ascii and html. Your email client should
be able to choose what to display.

If not, you´re a nitpicker stuck in the 1990s.

Have a nice day.

Hello,

Sorry, this is not the email address that the dev. community hears for feature

If you are looking for improvements in the near future (less than a
year) you are probably looking in the wrong place here. you would stand
a much better chance at the fork of OpenOffice, which is called
LibreOffice from The Document Foundation. Development is progressing
much faster there, and they know well that Impress is by far the weakest
link in the suite of functions that make up the office package. Under
Sun and then Oracle development on Impress was given a low priority by
corporate management. Now that LibreOffice is being developed by an all
volunteer community it is up to the developers and not corporate
management to decide what gets improved what gets ignored.

Would the LibreOffice guys be pleased if I infiltrate their mailing

another office suite instead?.

That barely matters here anymore. Oracle are giving OpenOffice.org away.
Presumably they are either firing or transfering the developers to other
products. I have not heard that they will continue to be major supporters in
development of the product.

Agreed that this is not the correct forum for Feature Enhancemnet Requests and
niether is approaching the devs direct. The correct method is through the bug
tracker process. This process is made relatively complex to prevent
frivalous, unresearched and inexpert FER's from being lodged. The feature gap
between Office and OpenOffice.org is well known but is more than compensated
for by the market and TCO price difference.

The FER process starts here:

I don't know if I would call it infiltrating, I have been on this mail
list for over 10 years now, and really I am just being realistic.
Without any paid corporate developers (the crew in Germany) at the
moment, not much is likely to happen very fast. I will admit that I am
on the TDF Discuss mail list as well as this one, and I have downloaded
and am using LO. Development is proceeding much faster on the LO fork.
Perhaps Apache will succeed in doing something with the OOo code, but
that won't happen overnight.
