hi Wayne I have all the latest firmware/router microHam stuff ok but I
noticed in the router software that the com port 5 (radio freq/mode)
shows (open 4800 8n1) same in both dx4win and microHam but I see
nowhere in dx4win or microham, or radio (FTdx5000) to set it to 8n2
I have to hit F9
I have a similar problem to yours and here are the limited results of my
troubleshooting, for what it's worth:
A few years ago, out of the blue and after years of using the same
station setup, I began having radio time-outs while using DX4Win. I
eventually traced the problem and was able to

checked, RTS HIGH checked. The microHam router sets the ports for the
software to talk with the computer and radio both with DX4WIN and
Writelog ports are set for radio freq and mode and also for CW

You might try increasing the number of tries before dx4win times out:
File> Preferences > Radio: Max Tries=? I just looked and mine is set at 2,
which is probably the default. That seems pretty low. Also, is the
computer talking to dx4win through the Microham router? Could

computer on first... loads up and running, then I turn on the radio and
out board items, then open either DX4WIN or Writelog shut down the

New problem has shown up with DX4WIN 9.0.9.1259 that has me scratching
my head. After opening the program everything is normal for a while but
then I get a message that radio has timed out and interface is
dis-abled. Which means the logging program no longer switches bands and
