[Dx4win] DX4WIN + IC746PRO

2002-01-29 Thread Howard Klein
Dean,
Check to see that the address and baud rate on the rig is matched to the
program. You know how that works. If not drop me a line. You can probably
choose any Icom from the list. 746 or 756 Pro sound like they may come
closest to functions of the 746 Pro.

I just set up an IC746PRO and want to control thru the DX4WIN program. I
supposed that the settings for the non-PRO would work ... but, alas, no
control. Any suggestions. I am using the W1??? cable interface.

Tnx Larry, Yes I was in hopes it would DEFAULT to ANY NOT worked VP8/BAND
that's open. Till one knows the callsign It could very well SLIP passed as
GRAY
Right?

 Bernie,

Not sure if anyone answered your question - did not see anything on the
 reflector.

the answer, as you probably know by now, is NO - it will not spot red
because you may have worked other VP8 entities.

You need to directly identify the call VP8GEO in the File, Preferences,
 Packet1, Callsign alert field.

Hi, Question with South Georgia coming up, will DX4WIN spot it in red?
Example suppose I have VP8 Falkins wkd on 20M, but not So. Georgia or
SSI. Now So Georgia comes in on 2OM spot
Now not knowing the call will it SEARCH all VP8 countries and see 20M
VP8 Not worked in my log and flag it RED as a spot regardless of what
  VP8 it REALLY is?
In other words will it default to RED if it finds any VP8 that's not wkd
on 20M, regardless of country? as a warning to me to check it out? Or
does it look for G in suffix, or do you have to TELL it what look for
by giving it a call sign in data base?
  Tnx 73, Bernie/WO2N.

[Dx4win] SWL labels

2002-01-29 Thread K2DBK - David
I got a couple of SWL cards via the buro recently. I marked a QSO for SWL
confirmation (via control-F2) and entered the SWL number. When I print
(preview, actually) the label, I don't see the Callsign listed on the
label. On the label, I see SWL: NL 12345 R89 (the SWL number that I
entered), and then the regular contact information, but the call of the
other station in the QSO (i.e., the one that I worked) isn't shown anywhere
on the label.

My two questions are: A) Should the other station's callsign be on the
label, and B) if so, how do I get it there (other than resorting to using a
pen!)

Thanks

David - K2DBK

[Dx4win] New user with many questions

2002-01-29 Thread Dan Violette, KI6X
Note a bit of what Jim said indirectly. The errors reported are not
necessarily telling you they are now wrong, but only that they differ from
the information being imported. I also had many, many errors, but all that
I remember were correct in DX4WIN. Mainly the old program used a different
convention for prefixes (say UA9 instead of UA/9, can't remember a real
example right now). So, the bottom line, the entries may be correct in
DX4WIN and the errors are just a warning that differences exist but not
that their for sure is an error now.

1. How do I deal with Asiatic Russia Zone errors?

2. Same question for VE Zones?

The program should have done most of these correctly. The Russian callsign
system is TRICKY, be VERY careful before you over-ride any entities or
zones for these callsigns. Most of them should be correct by default in
the 5.03 country file (perhaps your old program was wrong!). There is a
page of callsign exceptions on the DX4WIN web site that may not be in the
database yet.

3. Hawaii calls that are in KY,FL?

4. KG4 calls that are in 4 land not Gitmo?

5. It told me K5K was a State Side call, how do I fix that?

Go to the QSO in question, and tab over to the Prefix field. Using the F1
key, select the correct entity, and save the QSO record (ENTER or
F10). All subsequent QSOs with that callsign will now come up as that
entity.
