[Dx4win] exporting/importing TR4W log data into DX4Win
Anyone have a filter and process for moving data from TR4W into DX4WIN? I have made a couple of attempts at producing filters with significant lack of success so far. I found that the ADIF input will work for some of the contests logged by TR4W. It does not seem to work well for the QSO parties because the states are loaded into the QTH field but not into the State field. I have not yet tried a modified ADIF filter; it could be that doing that and loading the State field [as well having the QTH field load as is done currently] will handle the QSO parties. Loading the counties is also desirable, but I am not sure how that should be done. I suspect there is someone out there who has solved these problems. Re: [Dx4win] DX4WIN.CTY country file Release #108 - 11 March 2012
The DX4WIN country file, DX4WIN.CTY Release #108 is now available from: http://www.country-files.com/dx4win/ If you are not using the DX4WIN Data Updater, you must update both files: dx4win.cty adif.pmp This is because the primary prefix for the Republic of South Sudan changed to Z8. If you don't update adif.pmp, your ADIF imports and exports (includes LoTW and eQSL export/import functions) may not work as expected. -- Jim Reisert AD1C, jjreis...@alum.mit.edu, http://www.ad1c.us __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
Re: [Dx4win] exporting/importing TR4W log data into DX4Win
Tod, Try AD1C's adif2dxq program. You can download it at http://dx4win.ad1c.us/adif2dxq/index.html. It supports a number of state QSO parties. It will convert the county abbreviation to the proper format to import into DX4WIN. Just be sure the county in your ADIF file is in the CNTY field. If not, do a search and replace on that field. For example, my logging program puts the county abbreviation in the SRX field. Import the output file using the DX4WIN8 or DX4WIN6 filter for whatever version of DX4WIN you're running. 73, Alan N5NA On 3/12/2012 9:44 AM, Tod Olson wrote: Anyone have a filter and process for moving data from TR4W into DX4WIN? [Dx4win] Verifying Country Database Version in DX4win 8.05
I'm forwarding my dad's question to the reflector here. He is in the process of changing his email address and is unable to post anything right now on the reflector due to that. I will add to my dad's question below that we can go to the normal log window and enter Version in the callsign window and then tab to see the manager's database update date in the QSL manager window. We understand normally this would be the same date as the country file date but my dad was wondering on this other method that he has used in the past specifically for the country database. Re: [Dx4win] Dx4Win Updater
Jim, I do run the computer on LOCAL time so no issue there. Everything I see is that I am **running** the current version of 4.6. I did just try and deleted the file from the UPDATE directory and run the program again. Still the same thing. Always asks to update the Updater program. I think what I will try next (I'm running out of time right now) is to just delete all the updater files and start again with a fresh download of the DX4WIN Updater to see what happens. I'm guessing somehow I got something mixed up with the older 4.4 version in the newer 4.6 version. I'm not a computer person so it would not surprise me if I messed up something there :( I do have one other question right now, When asking about wanting to update the updater .exe file it gives you three options. Y | N | R. What does the R mean? Make sure that dx4wupd.exe in the UPDATE directory is not protected gainst over-writing or renaming the file. That would cause the ymptoms you see. You could try deleting it from the UPDATE irectory. The next time you run, you'll be prompted to update one ore time. The next time, you should not. Also make sure the version you're *running* is actually 4.6. Re: [Dx4win] Verifying Country Database Version in DX4win 8.05
It's easier than that. Near the top of the installation instructions, it says: The country file contains version information. If you try to log the callsign VERSION (without the quotes) and hit the tab or space key, look at the QSL Mgr field in the logbook. This will be the release date of the QSL manager database, and will usually match the release date of the country file, unless you have imported a different QSL manager database. It sounds like your father is not running DX4WIN in Expert mode. That opens up some menu options. [Dx4win] cty upgade problems
Goofed when updating to the latest country file. I used the upgrade tool I had the latest cty fileb put had the proir adif.pmp file. And would not run. I tried downloading with the upgrade tool and It said I had the latest files. I then did a system restore to last Friday, but again was told I had the latest files. I then did a search and found them I put the prior files in a new folder and loaded the march cty and pmp files in to the 805 folder where dx4win805.exe is located. It ran however when I tried version it said feb 2012, the prior version. That mystified me. I found the prior versions in the save file. I then put them in a new folder and copied the 3/2012 files to the save file and all is good it runs and version give the latest date the country total is also 340, I expect problems in the future with upgrades unless I clean this up. [Dx4win] CAT problem partially solved.
I've tried everything to get vspMGR to work and not time out. Thanks to Jim KJ2P who alerted me to Zombie ports Nothing I do completely deletes the Eltima ports from Win 7 64 bit. You delete ports from vspMGR (Ran as admin) they don't go away. You go into control panel and uninstall the drivers. They disappear from the device manager. Next reboot they are back. Then you uninstall the ports again and next reboot they are back with the yellow exclamation mark. This is not an indictment of vspMGR or Eltima. Most likely the blame lies with Win7 64 bit and of course it could be operator error but I usually find my dumb mistakes within a day. This has gone on for over a week. Once I find out why those ports have 9 lives I'll try vspMGR again. Installed VSPE and works perfect no timeouts all day. Thanks to all who helped and recommended VSPE. __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
