Re: [Dx4win] Mode RTTYM

2017-11-14 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT
Hello Steve,

That's because your K3 is in the Data mode, and all it reports to dx4win, or
to any other logging program, is that it's in Data. There is no way for the
logging program to tell which sound card mode you are using.

On the menu bar at the top, click on Radio > Ignore Mode in real time and
that will let you select whichever mode you are using.

When I click on the Mode box, RTTY is the 4 selection. The first 5
selections are not in alphabetical order.

Using AFSK A on my K3 in Real-time selects RTTY.

It appears that one can not change a real-time mode selection. WHY?

When I operate the WSJT-X modes in real-time, they all show RTTY. It would
be nice to be able to override this.

[Dx4win] rtty

2017-11-14 Thread Courtney Judd
wow, worked 3 new RTTY dxcc today: 9U4M,VP2MDC and J5T looking for
VK9MA for another. BUT, last evening I saw 9U4M spotted on 40 doing rtty
up 2. So I dropped down to 40 and sure enough Gritty showed him working
on the spotted freq correctly. here is where things get crazy. I have
been using MMTTY with DX4WIN and Writelog thru microHam keyer with the
router software. Never had any problems or seen this behavior before.
When I looked at the MMTTY print out window I see everything printed out
in reverse... that is qc qc m4u9 m4u9 pu gritty shows them correctly
so I know it's not them. So I send my call... looks like this iw4k iw4k
iw4k this has me completely buffaloed for the next hour and half
I went thru dx4win preferences, mmtty setup, and microham router looking
for anything out of place and for something to get it right again. I
have never seen this in all the time before. Nothing I did worked.
Finally just for something to do I clicked on CLEAR in the mmtty print
window. Voila! Back to normal and was able to get the 9U4 boys in the
log. Can anyone explain this behavior or is it this old dude going
crazy? lol 73's Cort K4WI

[Dx4win] V8.05 Problem

2017-11-14 Thread Arne N7KA
WINDOW displays on screen.

I get the following pip-up msg: An exception occurred! Fixed column count must
be less than count. This happens for all windows except SUNRISE/SET, LOGBOOK,
and SAMECALL.

I tried resizing, replacing .ini file from a 2nd computer tat works but still
not working. This problem arose after 1 month of not using the computer.

Any suggestions? And NO, I did not have a saved copy of original .ini file.

[Dx4win] F8 Searches in version 9

2017-11-14 Thread Ian Fugler
Sorry, resending with a correct header

Paul/Jim

Right, I have managed to get the issue to repeat.

Use an F8 search to look for all QSOs with IOTA OC001. Because DX4Win knows
that there is only one island name under that group, it automatically fills
in the Iota island field. Then do a fresh F8 search for anybody you know is
in your log, preferably not on OC-001. On mine, it fails to find any QSOs.
I looked for my uncle with whom I have had dozens of QSOs. I had to restart
DX4Win to get out of the 'No matching QSO' loop.

I hope that makes sense. It seems that the new feature in version 9 whereby
it completes the Island Name field is causing a problem in subsequent F8
searches.

Subject: RE: [Dx4win] Callsign lookups.

Hello Ian - you were the first with the answer and how very simple it turned
out to be. I am sure that I never had to use 'ALT' in 8.05 but just F3!

I gave up using DX4Win as my main logger some time ago because I got
frustrated with its deficiencies, although I kept v8.05 current, in parallel
with DXKeeper (probably because, being retired, I could) and when I saw the
upgrade available thought I would invest the few dollars and see what
difference it made.

There are a very large number of 'corrections' necessary if I want to get
things back to a pristine condition in DX4Win - some things like correcting
the mode are very easy but other things, like correcting the report boxes,
will take many hours of patient work, but I will give it a try and see what
becomes of it all. DXKeeper does all the data collection (mode and report,
for instance) perfectly but, to a computer battler as I am, it is dreadfully
complicated and, for me, my major complaint is that it does many more things
that I do not want than things I need and do want!

Ian, thanks again, stay happy, healthy and safe and 73 from VK3.

Instead of just F3, try ALT F3. Working ok here with the new command.

Can some kind soul tell me how to get the QRZ.com callsign lookup feature
working.

A couple of pieces of info - this still works instantly and flawlessly in
8.05, and so easy was it to apply even I had no problem getting it working.
And.. I do not have a paid subscription to QRZ.com. I use the free service.

For the life of me I cannot get this working and either cannot find the
correct information to allow me to get it working or cannot understand the
information that I can find about the subject. And yes, I do have VERY POOR
computer skills.

Please be detailed and provide info step by step and if you think necessary
(or better) send the information directly to me.

Thanks in anticipation.
