Re: [Dx4win] Adif fields

2021-09-14 Thread RCSEG

Hello
When using DXLog for a DXpedition, the duplicate QSO is mentioned, like
for a contest log.

DX4Win import the power field to the Notes for this QSO. This is wrong.
We must change the name of the filed to comment so it is imported to the
right box.

Why ?

ADIF says this:
"COMMENT: comment field for QSO
recommended use: information of interest to the contacted station's operator
"

That doesn't say anything about whether this is a per-QSO or a per-QTH flag.
Consequently, exporting this flag as a COMMENT and assuming that it's going
to be treated one way or the other isn't a valid assumption. DXKeeper
happens to get it right for this specific usage; it would be wrong for
others.

There's no way to express "This contact is a duplicate" in ADIF.
Duplicate QSOs are a contest issue, and don't matter for most logging
programs. If a contest program wants to export their "duplicate QSO" flag,
they can't redefine the COMMENT field to meet their requirements.
Export that information as an APP_ tag, or propose a new tag.

Other loggers, such as DXKeeper, on the other hand, do it right.

Can you define "right" here?

What are the name of the fields in DXKeeper to do it "right"?
DXKeeper is a much newer program than DX4WIN and I guess that there are
some extra fields in DXKeeper that DX4WIN does not have.

Kostas
Thank you your explanations.
But I was refer to import QSO from contest.
All contest program have a field for indicating dupe QSO, normally
called comment.

This should be imported to "note for this qso" = "comment" field.
But it is not. Why?

On the the other side, comment could be something abt the qso (for
example I heard it with QSB) but usually is something about the
station (for example: he uses a quad like me). So the normal is to put
it in "Notes for this call" which applies for all QSOs of this call.

I checked, using the default ADIF import in DX4Win v9.

DX4Win puts the content of the ADIF key in the "Notes for
this QSO" field
and the content of the ADIF key in the "Notes for this
Call" field.

This is a very unusual interpretation of the ADIF standard. I would
even call it wrong.

Other loggers, such as DXKeeper, on the other hand, do it right.

I would propose filing a bug report with the DX4Win author.

[Dx4win] ADIF Fields, DX4WIN, BV

2002-12-05 Thread Ralph Fedor
I worked on this about a year ago and gave up. I'm trying again:

I wish to export my DX4WIN log into the QSL printing program, BV. After
printing in BV, I want to import the log back into DX4WIN.

I can move the logs in ADIF format without any problem. However, the ADIF
fields for LABEL, QSL DATE, METHOD, and CONFIRMED don't seem to flow out of
DX4WIN or back into it. This needs to happen in order to keep all the data
correct in DX4WIN.

Has anyone had any experience in using DX4WIN and BV together? Is there a
way to have DX4WIN read and write to these fields?

Thanks --

Ralph - K0IR
