Hello everyone,
I have a small problem with dx4win. At the bottom I have the dx-spots
window. When I click on the sign, the window is gone, which is normal. But
after that I can't find it anywhere. No, it is not hidden behind other
windows. Previously with windows 7 I could find the closed window
Of course if you do that, you'll no longer be able to go click on a spot
and have your radio automatically tune to the frequency and correct mode of
the spot ( if you have your radio linked to your computer).

Go to your preferences, Packet 2 tab.
I am running DX4WIN ver.9.0.4.1176. How can I prevent all the callsign spots
from showing up in the DX spots window whenI a do a sh/dx callsign in the
packet window, where they also show up?
Also, can two BandMaps be seen at the same time?

Have you tried connecting to a different node to see if the problem goes away?

Hello,
Seems I have messed up my DX Spots Window/Packet Window. Not getting spots
in the Packet window or recent spots in the DX Window. All I am getting in
the Packet window after connecting are many - my call, node call, date and
time.
Please help.

No, it's the 25 spots that refreshes. You can make any line auto refresh
by appending a | and the number of minutes.
However, you should *NOT* auto refresh large numbers of spots as this
would be an inconsiderate waste of the spot server's bandwidth.
If you want history, initially download
The 25 Spot is refreshing as expected.
Why should I use a telnet cluster instead of the server?
Which cluster do you (or others) recommend? The K1TTT cluster seems to
have much less activity on it than DX Summitt.

The spots that you get from a cluster come in as a steady stream, in
essentially real-time. Most, if not all, cluster systems on the Internet
are interconnected so the old concept of connecting to one close to you
to pick up locally spotted DX doesn't apply. Some clusters do have
filtering on
One disadvantage of using DX Summit with for DX4WIN spots is that frequency is
only accurate to the kHz. A spot that shows up on 14200.4 on a browser will
display as 14200.0 in the DX4WIN spot window.

You might consider using something other than K1TTT. It's an extremely
busy cluster, best to spread the activity around. Using telnet you will
receive each spot exactly once. With a Web server, you are receiving
them in fixed batches. If activity is low, you will receive spots
multiple times.
Don't know; I see no links for it on the DX4WIN web site under the Support,
Download, or Links pages.
Where do I get it from?

Hi --
How does one get the window to refresh in real - time ?
In the packet window, I select the internet connection I want, and the
spot that shows up are all 9 minutes old.
Checking DX Summit, there are a lot of spots that are more recent than 9
minutes.
Mark K3MSB
Assuming that you're seeing spots coming into the packet window (if not,
then the problem is with the cluster you're connecting to), you need to
make sure that the DX Spots window is sorting by arrival time. In that
window, right-click and select Sort then click on Arrival. (You can also

Keep-alive is only an issue if the cluster you connect to requires it.
Basically, some clusters will disconnect you if they don't see anything
from your system within a certain amount of time. If that's the case,
you'll need to have a keep-alive set, but you'd still see spots coming

DX Summit will not refresh in DX4WIN, but it refreshes if I am parked on
the web site.
Been using DX Summit for years, and it works fine for me, but (for me) it
will not update in DX4WIN.
K1TTT (non skimmer setting) updates, but looking at the DX4WIN site, it's
missing a lot of stations.

Hello!
I have the same problem with lost spots from internet.
Just found that I don?t have any dxwin.put file. Simply copied the file from

You will note that the DX4WIN.PUT file comes and goes. It is only
there when there are spots in the DX spot window. If you exit DX4Win
without clearing the spots the .PUT file remains with spots. If you
clear the spots and don't exit DX4Win the .PUT file remains. If you

Mel, I may not have been clear about this last night.
Backup DX Spots is supposed to use the backup timer to write the unsaved
spots to disk at regular intervals. Just like it does for the open log. I
asked for this a while back, so that a DX4WIN crash would not delete all the
spots that were

Mark,
it indicates the priority of the spot.
I had a fair number of requests to do this for folks who have difficulties

Thank you all for the answer to my question. Apparently the number in the
P column signifies the priority of the spot for those of us who have
problems in distinguishing the colors.
