Hi John
Here are a couple things to check:
Is the path to MMTTY on the RTTY tab in Preferences correct? Mine
is c:\program files (x86)\mmtty\mmtty.exe.
I have struggled with Win 7 saving some files as "Compatibility Files",
which I have yet to fully understand. In any case, sometimes files end
Hi Alan,
Use a text editor to edit the dx4win.tcp file. Add a | (above the \ on my
keyboard) and a number to the end of the line on your favorite Telnet
connection. The number defines how many minutes to wait before it sends a
keep alive to the connection. For example:

Since we all have opinions, I guess I will put mine out there.
I like the LoTW interface. I have a significant number of logs from
different locations in my master DX4Win log and each has to be treated
differently by TQSL. So an automatic upload doesn't make sense to me. The

You may have a 6M QSO accidentally entered as C5 or TK. Try Filtering (F8)
on C5 (after hitting F8, put your cursor in the Prefix window and hit F1.
Type "The" and select The Gambia) and filter on 6M (move your cursor int
Hi Dick,
In the Help file, section "Appendix B:Files", under the first paragraph
"Save Directory", it discusses the automatic log backup file with the
extension .~xl (for example, mine is n7cw.~xl). Try making a copy of that
file, renaming it with the extension .dxl and loading it into DX4Win. I

The easiest way is found here:

Jim's new version of the updater is wonderful. If you are still stuck,
write back to the reflector

Hi Bill,
In order to make this work, you must fill in all the information in the box
that pops up when you select Contest Mode - including the date and time
(which has to be before you start entering QSOs), the Contest Mode Enabled
box must be checked and the text you want added must be entered.
Hi Mike,
There are 3 lines in the Greetings box. The 3rd line is used for SWL
labels.

Hal - I believe you are correct. I have many different log files and on
the Personal Tab of the Preferences, they all say N7CW. It must refer to
the license, but it doesn't show up anywhere else where it might interfere
with logging operations (at least that I have ever found).

Hi Fred from up the road a piece,
I didn't double check this, but I bet you have to be set as an Expert user.
In Preferences, on the Personal tab, in the User Level drop down box,
select Expert. You will probably need to re-start the program.

Luis - it's all politics, so no one knows when it might happen. Z6 is
recognized by CQ magazine, so it will count for the CQWW DX contests and
that is why Martti is there this weekend.
Work them first, worry about the politics later :)

Wayne,
Mine works fine. Are you using the X4 version of the radio control
software?

Barry,
Did you select the radio in DX4Win? file, Preferences, the Radio tab, then
in the Radio Type drop down window, you should find the file you extracted.
Don't forget to select the Com port.

Relative to LoTW improvements: One of the great features of DX4Win is it's
ability to handle multiple logs, whether they are DXpeditions, grid
expeditions or just a club call. Using the Groups and Selections choices,
they can be combined or separated easily. LoTW requires that some of these
logs
To add to Jim's answer, see Filter|Selection in the Help file. It is
pretty complete.
