It is some sort of earth loop - I can't be more specific since it depends on
your installation. I have heard the same when I put my headphone switcher in
the same box as the controller I use for copying freq/mode between the two K2s
here.
I found mine by systematically disconnecting the
I got rid of the computer polling noise on both of my K2/100's by
removing the right side panel and tucking the ribbon cable up as
high as possible - away from the main board.
Not that I would recommend doing it the way that I did it (with
the power on and CTWin up and running), but I could hear

Hank and all,
I've had the same polling noise and the S meter would flicker with each
poll when using any logging program, not loud but still there. Now, you
suggestion worked like a champ, just tucked the ribbon up out of the way
and no more nothing! I wonder if there's a more elegant fix
What could be more elegant than a neatly folded cable? G
This discussion does re-inforce my opinion that anytime the KPA100 is
installed, the right side panel be removed so the cables can be dressed
properly and not interfere with the shield plate or the clips. It is also
easier to
If you are using the K2 with the RASCAL interface for PSK, which
cable did you order with the RASCAL. Thanks.

Congrats Mike! Be careful. KX1's are highly addictive.
FWIW: I purchased #897, at Pacificon in Oct 04. My HP48GX tells me
elecraft is delivering about 34.5 KX1's/month.

Care to enlighten us with a bit of description of Ultimatic Keying...?
I don't use the K2's keyer AS an iambic keyer, even though the feature's
available.
What features does Ultimatic Keying have? And what keyers offer it?

I have found an external keyer with my needs by K1EL.
Just wanted to ask before I get another do dat on the cluttered desktop.
I figure that with the resources on this list that perhaps
someone might have made a mod or such.

There was a discussion about this just recently in the BrassPounders
news group on Yahoo. The attractiveness of Ultimatic is not its
effeciency - it is attractive to a number of cw operators because of
its ineffeciency! That is, its forgiving coordination requirements.

Well, I received my 5 volt calibration standard from Joe Geller at
gellerlabs.com today.
I upgraded to the KQ chip. The papers with it shows that it is calibrated
to +/- 10 microvolts. On a 5 volt scale, that is +/- 2ppm. The initial
calibration is then +/- 0.0002%!
I connected it to my
A couple of general questions to the reflector regarding voltage meter
calibration:
1) if the meter is spot-on on one scale, can one assume it is so on all
scales (or all autoranges)? I suspect the answer is no, but am surely
willing to hear the word of those who know.
2) if the meter
Hi folks -
I have all options installed in K2 and all are working extremely well. I
am just finishing up with the K60XV. In doing the alignment I get a
slightly low voltage reading on 5300kHZ of .79 (where the manual says it
should no be less than 1.0 on page 11). All other voltages are within
This KSB2 is not working properly. It is built very well and works great in
the OP1function but not in the CW function. Likewise I am not asking a lot
for it. Rather than take the time to troubleshoot, I just bought a new kit.
Make an offer.
