The one 20pF capacitor supplied with my T1 kit is a small NPO (black edge)
device with no voltage marking, it looks like a 50V item to me but maybe
the're getting smaller.
This part is for C2 which is spec'd at

Last night, without warning I had a strange problem with my recently built
K2 (sn 4618) : When plugging in my headphones to the connector on the front
panel, the K2 speaker was still activated, even though I did have normal
sound from the phones too.
Looking in the manual, it seems that there

I know I'm going to enjoy this little product.

I have a K2 with the SSB adaptor, 160m option, audio filter
and auto atu built in, and an excellent QRP radio it is too.
I have a dilemma - I would like a QRO capability on SSB but
would really love to keep the K2 intact as a QRP go anywhere

Has anyone built the 100w KPA 100 amplifier option as a stand
alone in a separate Elecraft case ? Any problesm with doing
this ?

I was wondering how I could build a K2 and keep it light and QRP portable
without having to actually remove the amp every time I wanted to move it.
Puting a KPA100 and a KAT100-2 in EC2 case, is that possible?

I keep losing audio. It doesn't happen with any regularity. I never know when
it will happen. I just changed bands, and the audio went completely out. I

back jack thinking it was a jack problem. The headphones
It's done! I finally ordered my 100 watt PA today for the K2. Can't wait
to get it going.

I have completed K2 # 4670 - thanks for the help.
I can now listen to W1AW code and work on getting on the air after I pass
the Element 1 and General.
But, what is the best key to start with - straight, iambic, non-iambic? or
what. So many choices and I need advice.
Thanks in advance.
73,
I just finished building the KPA100 and KAT100-2 in
the EC2 case and I love it. It went together really
well using KK7P's instructions,
http://www.kk7p.com/k2kpa100.html. I used the KIO2
option which made it very simple and neat. Everything
works great!

If you use 30 meters for CW there may be an unpleasent surprize on the horizon.
I've posted information about it at www.zerobeat.net
If you operate CW at low poer levels, you really should read the material.

There are no 'right' answers, but being an 'old timer', I would suggest that
you start with a straight key long enough to acquire a feeling for proper
character formation and spacing. After that, I would suggest going to an
iambic keyer - skip the non-iambic initially (since you already have

Thom,
OK, I may be dense, but I opened the page you referenced and nothing hit me
in the face about 'unpleasant surprize' and '30 meters'. Can you be more
specific - I just don't have the time to look through all the links on that
page to find what you seem to be inferring.

Yes...
Take a look at the 'Switchbox for digital modes' article on my website

You should be able to expand on that to suit your individual needs.
