We are waiting for the S meter absolute mode to be incorporated into the
firmware as it is in the K3, then the meter will correctly read the signal
at the antenna socket irrespective of preamp or attenuator settings. I
agree that the current situation is somewhat odd, maybe there's a good

Robin,
Unfortunately, Pauli EA3BLQ is SK and as far as I know, no boards are
available.
For the fixed audio out, you may want to look at my website

Right Mark, I shall just have used the opposite logic:
Setting HI=Inh in the ACC2 IO Menu de facto disables TX (TX blinking); so
this is the perfect solution with no need for external HW.

Thought about it, but the dependency on CAT would be too risky; I have the

I hope the new firmware will allow calibration as well, since mine is off a

I hope its ok for me to post an OFF-TOPIC query.
Here is my question:
Recently I was forwarded an email.a ham offering to sell a slightly
used KX3.
I had a bad experience this summer with someone who I believe was posing
as a ham offering to sell something via email.
It was in response to a
1) See if QRZ address matches the address he gives
2) Google search him to see if anyone complained on a list or
elsewhere. Also see if he ever posts to ham reflectors and what that
history is.
3) Does he have a land-line phone nr that can be verified against his
address on the internet
Just a couple elaborations on these fine points.
1) QRZ email address is not always a sure fire protection against fraudulent
posts. I had one gentleman I was going to purchase from who was unaware that
his QRZ email was hacked. Get a phone number and references from another ham in
his/her

Double check your power supply connections. I wouldn't trust any display
readings without first making sure the unit was first getting good voltage.

One more suggestion:
ask for photocopy of a sales receipt, or an invoice, showing that he purchased
the item from a legitimate source (e.g. an Elecraft invoice).
I recently answered a Craigslist listing for an iMac. Price seemed too good to
be true. It was. I smoked out the fraud by asking
Be careful trusting what you see on QRZ. There is a recent trend where an
unsuspecting victim clicks on a link to view whatever a scammer is offering
via email. That link leads to a QRZ.COM fake web page where the victim is
asked to log in. After providing name and password, the victim is then

Great that you have the KX3 enroute! Dealing with authorities and

I was sorry to see the discussion about ERP calculations end...using the

To be clear concerning the QRZ address check::
QRZ.com can give the official FCC contact postal address. This can
also be had on the FCC website. I recommend comparing that postal
address to the postal address he gives for sending the USPS money
order. I would NOT like a po box nr for this,
Don's little audio board is perfect. I use one in my K2 for all digital
modes. Builds in about 30 minutes from parts you can get anywhere
including Radio Shack. Sparkfun.com has a nice little 10K trimpot with a
knob for less than a buck that works great.

Here's a source for the N0SS (sk) tuning indicator. Works very nice and

Chris,
No, it cannot be done that way - an RS-232 port cannot have multiple
drivers - that Y cable is to connect a port that only listens on the bus
- its drivers must be disabled - like the SteppIR controller.
If you want 2 applications to talk with the K3, you must use a virtual
port
Someone once suggested a simple method of smoking out

a kitchen fork. This ensures that he actually has the
item in his possession.

Yes I do look forward to the 2m module for the KX3. At least I will have some

Just worked TX5D PSK31 on 12m using the built-in encoder/decoder of the K3.
It would have been really nice to have split available for this purpose. I

Toggling back and forth between the A/B vfos is pretty clumsy.
Why no split on PSK-D?

Let me guess, Tom. You were not actually IN Ireland?

I have had a P3 for some time but only very recently did I build it and

The ERP calculation was, I think in error, but it was for 600 meters, not 60
meters and the ERP from a reasonable antenna is much less for 600 meters than
