The DXE PL-259's are indeed good connectors I use it with their 400MAX coax
and have ran up to 3kw into a dummy load using them no problems. I have used
LMR-400 for years and now use only DXE coax and mostly there connectors.

I prefer the Nifty Stands over those, much neater and with the smoked stand
goes very well with the radio. I don't know about those stands but the Nifty
stand and the radio both have no movement at all, the KX3

I have one of the rubber Monoprice flexible roll-up ones, very flat and easy
to store out of the way when not in use.
Price was very attractive.

The numbers tell the real story about it they do not lie it is the #1 QRP
radio in the world without lugging around a computer with you and IMHO does
better than those. It shows in the tests also no wonder it has became de
facto standard for QRP radios around the world.
For an SDR it and the K3
There have been many very good answers the main reason I switched to the
K3's from the Yaesu FTDX-5000MP's a bit better main receiver on the Yaesu
at that. The reason the second receiver same as the first with the same

I just received my second KX3 and it seems to have an issue. On LSB only
it sounds like its off frequency when it shows dead on where it should be.
Tuning up or down makes it over more so, if you listen closely it seems to
be on but garbled. Never had this happen on my first KX3 on LSB and on

With the KX3 the ONLY tuner to use is the internal tuner as in all
Elecraft gear. IMHO their tuners are some of the best ever made and built in
the small package of the KX3 8).

I had 2 really good days with Linux the day I downloaded it and the day I
reformatted the hard drive it was on. All the really good ham apps are
Windows Apps and you don't have to screw with the OS all the time like
Linux. Just my opinion.

Once I finally learned how to use it works very well, but it is NOT a
1-2-3 press for NR like many. With the K3 you can really customize it for
each and every type you encounter, like all things it could be
better..
I'm still waiting on the PERFECT RADIO a K4 maybe 8)

I think they went with the right option first the amp and tuner to make the
KX3 a full blown desktop radio a smart move IMHO. It also will produce the
greatest amount of return good business since and profitability. The 2m
mogul I think will not have nearly as many buyers as the amp/tuner because
When I changed over to all Elecraft gear one radio I did keep was my IC-9100
for all my UHF/VHF even though one of my K3's does have the 2m module in it.
It still remains my main radio for 2-12m over my K3 with the 6/10 preamp.
IMHO a better receiver on those frequencies plus the added power up to
This is really a great improvement for my KX3 and I would love to see it
ported to the K3 if possible. I'm positive that there are many new updates
coming for the flagship of the line the K3 to come. There is nothing on the
market to compete with it and Elecraft has been the only company that

How well do they transmit for you if needed while serving as a SW Receiver?
I have several Grundig,s and a Sangean excellent radios but cannot serve a
