I have noticed that there are several white lines showing in the waterfall
display that do not move when I change frequency. Some are fuzzy and some
are well defined narrow lines. All these lines are vertical and would appear
to be signals except that when I tune toward the signal they never

I have tried to use Wayne's suggestion for setting APF on for one preset and

Is there a way to connect a long wire to a BL-2?
I vaguely remember seeing a post re: this kind of setup used as a way to get
a wider range of matches without using a longer wire antenna.
My rig is a KX1 and where I am going to be backpacking makes it impractical
to use a balanced line
is a danger zone so I will be doing further
research.
Certainly removing the resistor mod power comes into consideration.
For right now, since I only operate in the field with my 12VDC battery, I am
quite happy with my setup.

I just went through this scenario. With the help of Don Wilhelm I was able
accurately measure my power out on my KX1 and K3.
I first used a homebrew load with free resistors given away at a club
meeting. They only worked at low frequencies. At 20 meters the SWR to far
off to be of use!

difference in the output power! Of course, in the field I use a 12 VDC
battery. I have almost never used the internal battery setup with a nominal

I have an 811-H connected to my K3 running 500 to 600 watts cw. I have
problems that might be similar to yours. I get loud, fuzzy, cw tones on
both my noise canceling head phones my external speakers. Both these items
are powered devices. One by a wall wart and one by an AAA battery.

Keyer attached to an IC-706. That keyer had an option to select a single

After a month of not using my KX1 I turned it on and found that it displays
a lower case u in the left most digit of the band display when I hit Band
while on 40 meters. I see u 7 (or u 6). I do not see any anomaly when
I am on 80, 30 or 20!

As far as I can tell, a single lever paddle, when connected to a keyer, sends
dots when pushed in on one direction and dashes when pushed in the opposite
direction. Presumably this prevents the possibility of a keyer sensing both
contacts closed

It occured to me that I could bump the ouput up from 13.8 to the legal
limit for my KX1. The goal of course is more power out!
Is this a bad idea? I say bad because I know that many
