When you change bands and key the K3/KPA1500 do you see a spike in power and
then the power out settles down and is fine till you switch bands? Then you
have a spike in power on the initial keying?

You got me thinking. With my pair of K3’s and KPA500 and 1500 I can’t remember
the last time I used a rig or amp to select a band. I usually use a logging or

I had bought ear pad replacement covers for KOSS UR20, UR30 and SB40 that fit

Don,
You are correct about Schottky diodes such as the 1N5711. Don't just trust
using an ohmmeter. They are not typical PN bipolar devices like diodes such as
the 1N5811. We actually do some tests as if they are a FET. They are so cheap,
that if you suspect an issue, just replace them.

filters that you could hear. From Elecraft feedback It seems the
newer filters are better but probably you could not hear the difference.

Tnx Ian,
On 80 and 160M this past weekend had the filter bandwidth set at 200HZ most of
the time due to the QRN. The NR helped a little. Just trying to find out if
worth the money to buy the new 200 HZ filter if I would really know the
difference.

My understanding is that the new 200 HZ filter is different than the old 200
HZ filter. Is this correct?
If so, is the difference even possible to detect on the air?
Tnx

Nice work. Definitely looks better than some of the prototype boxes I have

Wayne,
It is nice you were able to write a couple poems based on your own
experience with QRP :-)
Do I detect another hobby or stress reliever?

the Acom. But the Acom was off. While I waited for the Acom to heat up I
tried calling the UA0 with 100W. He knew I was calling him but he could not
pull out my full call. By the time the Acom cycled ON, the UA0 was down in
the noise. Bummer.

Actually he is a guy that seems to repeat himself a lot. And it is the same
thing over and over. He can be very tiring but at the same time he gives you
some relief so you can keep your mouth shut.

I agree. Once you get the knack of it there is not an issue at high run

Tried another Com port and made the change in MMTTY but the same result.
What could I have inadvertently changed so that the Com 1 Pin 3 to stay at

Tnx for any feedback.

Just found it. Tony
Is there a recommendation on small solder pots? I don't need one often, but
there are times such as stripping several wires and/or tinning wires where
it would be nice to just dip the wire into the pot to remove the insulation.
I see some online for <$30. Are they any good?

Rich,
Thanks for your input. I had to go to the Mike input with the Codec and
change to 2 channel. That took care of the issue.
