I bought the parts to make the adapter cable to use my cell-phone
earbuds on my KX2. I haven't built it yet.
I suspect that your voice won't be quite as full and up-front with the
earbuds mic vs. some other, but if you really need to travel light, it
should work.

Is anyone using ear buds with a microphone with their kx3? I am
contemplating buying earbuds and wondered if it would be wise to include a
microphone. If so recommendation of brands and models known to work well
would be appreciated. Thanks, Marv KG7V
Thanks to all who replied regarding using OSHA ear plugs on ear buds to
keep them in. Not sure why I couldn't find it in the archives ... short
attention span while searching, I guess.

I know this has been discussed on the reflector, but I can't find it in
the archives after a bit of searching. I have the RS equivalent of the
Koss Ear Plugs which work great on my KX1 for an old guy who can't hear
any more. However, I can't get them into my ears so they'll stay for
any length

Hi Rich...
They were the Sony earbuds 120 dB/mW. I couldn't find the exact one,
so I bought the Sony MDR-EX51LP (100dB/mW). Plenty loud and they are
the most comfortable earbuds ever. Only thing I find, you can hear your
own breathing if signals are weak, and if you take you eyes off the
cord,
I remember seeing some information regarding the prefered: ear buds for the
KX-1. Can someone direct me to that web page?

Page 62 of the KX-1 manual recommends Sony MDR or equivalent with a
sensitivity of 108 dB/mW.

I agree that The Plug by Koss are acceptable earbuds. They are rated
at 110 db. I wear hearing aids, so need the best I can find. If anyone
knows about any earbuds better than the Koss ones, I'd appreciate
hearing about it. (Pun intended.)
BTW, worked Antarctica from Indianapolis on the KX1
The Plug by Koss gives me all the sound I can stand. Great for portable work
since they are very
small.

Has anyone done any experimenting with various ear-buds? Which model brand
is the most sensitive and produces the most volume?

Don, there is a sensitivity rating on the better quality earbuds packages.
Some of the Sony models are quite efficient among others. The cheap
unlisted specs models vary all over the place. Plus, the insulation gets
stiff on the Dollar store brands.

Don, I have both Sony earbuds and The Plug by Koss. The Sonys may have
slightly higher mfg. reported sensitivity, but the The Plug has a sound
channel that goes deeper into the ear. The Plug has silicone buds that seal
out ambient noise. The Sonys dont seal.
