Thanks to all those who offered suggestions. I eventually determined
that my connector was the wrong size 2.5 not 2.1mm. Bought the correct
one this morning and soldered in a new (heavier) cable and terminals.
Now it works well ... with none of the 'wobblings' of before.

In my opinion you have not installed the APP's correctly. I used them on my
K2, my K3 and all over the shack. I have used them mobile and on the bench.
I have even used them holding the K2 in my hand while I transmitted on SSB
to test a portable aerial. I have never had a problem

archive BUT ... Has anyone complained about the fragility of the
power plug/socket arrangement on the K2?? I *have* to sweep off my
bench before starting up the rig. Else it turns itself
Is the connector on the K-2 end of your power cable an original Elecraft
connector?...If it is an after market replacement, the outer sleeve, which is
power supply ground, might not be the right diameter and is not making contact
with the wiper type ground contact inside J-3, the 12 volt input
