[Elecraft] K2 Inventory 'problem'

2004-07-05 Thread Bill Scovell
They say that confession is good for the soul so perhaps I should detail my foolish mistake. I looked at the RFa bag bandolier, not too closely it turns out, and decided that it wasn't carrying any 1/2 watt resistors. Not being able to find any loose ones I counted up the number of resistors

I used to notice that when I was tuning in 1Khz steps my frequency used to always end up about 30khz or 50khz higher. So from tuning say from 5050.00 to 7070.00 using the 1Khz tuning rate the fine tune frequency read at would be 7070.03 or 7070.05. Anyway, I did the recalibration of my K2

In my opinion, one of the most effective antennas I have used is a rotatable trap dipole such as the Cushcraft D3, D3W and D4. I have used them all. Advantages: Single support, easier to get up at a reasonable height than a dipole and no drooping ends as in inverted V. They are a bit pricey, but

The initial re-tightening seems to be all that is required. I believe the thermal pads will slightly thinner after an initial period of being exposed to the pressure from the initial tightening and that normal 'squeezing' process may be shortened by the thermal cycling. I have not been able to
