All,
I am using the K2 only as a tvtr driver for VHF, does any one else have some
major birdies on the 10m band?
I am trying to use the K2 as a Dx machine for contests and weak sig work but
this sometimes makes life awkward
is there any screening or anything in particular that causes them!
I missed some mails from the reflector some time ago so excuse the BW!
I saw some mention of a KW amp from Elecraft?
is this correct??
Any chance it MIGHT include 6m guys PLEASE
hahahah!

Just a note that is slightly off topic:
For those of you looking for a way to reduce distractions while picking out
those weak signals from the ether. I picked up a set of passive noise reducing
ear 'plugs' made by Shure for about $100 from CompUSA (originally for my
palm/mp3 listening) and I'll

There is a chance...just a chance. An Elecraft employee (heheheh) told
me that if it's possible, they would include it. It might need to be at
reduced power compared to the other bands, since the gain of the

Does your wife have a sister? Is she single? :) Wow, what a lucky guy!

Has anyone built this antenna tuner? (Described on the elecraft website) I
just got my ticket and am looking into equipment. There are no detail on
its construction other than a schematic and pictures. Questions that come
to mind include:
How are the transformers wound?

Hi, Jay.
I have one of the keys that Michael mentioned but I
got it a lot less than Morse Express are selling them
for!
I bought mine on ebay from:

I'm very pleased with it!

Rich,
If you re read the text below the pictures, it pretty much details, along
with photos, how the coils are wound. They are solenoid open wire coils,
and the coil forms are noted, as are the wire sizes and turns for each
winding.
Link coils such as in this Z match tuner, are typically made

Generally, hamband-only radios are not so good for MARS operations.
Radios with wideband (1.8-30 MHz) receivers can sometimes be modified
by or for valid MARS stations and this works well. Hambands-only
radios, even if they cover a few hundred Khz above or below the hamband
limits

When setting the power via the serial port using basic mode, whichever

I'm starting to build the SSB adapter for my K2 (#4398), and I have a
parts ID question:
I appear to be missing RP3 and RP5 as listed in the parts list, but I
have two 6-pin RP's labelled CTSK 045161473 and 6X-2-202 B02242 yet
to be accounted for. I strongly suspect these are my missing RP's
Hi, I have a partially completed KX1 for sale. Included is the
following;
KX1 CW Xcvr - partially built kit
KXAT1 - internal auto tuner - unbuilt kit
KXB30 - 30M adapter - unbuilt kit
KXPD1 - Keyer paddle for KX1 - partially built kit

Fred,
Those are the same parts I had with my KSB2. The CTSK 045161473 is
called out in the parts list as 61473 for RP5. The '6X-2-202 B02242
part I used for RP3, trusting that the only part left was the correct
part.
The KDSB seems to work, but I've never used one before, so what do I
know.
Since the KX1 is power limited I would like to build a dummy load and attach it

Hello fellow Elecraft addicts -
I've been using my Icom 706 a lot lately while I build the amp for my
K2. As an 18- 20wpm cw novice I seem to have FAR more difficulty
SENDING cw on the 706 then I do on the K2. I could swear it's not my
imagination. After 30min on the 706 - a switch over to
