Since it's not in the instructions, you should leave the speaker
disconnected. Seems clear. RX audio is a secondary feature in a
transceiver.
Sometimes, obvious steps are left off from kit instructions. This is
usualy an oversight. The kit builder still needs to use some
judgment.

else you get audio feedback screeching. When you remove hearing aids, if you're
like most people, you lose ability to hear higher frequencies,

storm fried the 1N5711 diodes in my KAT100. From reading the reflector,
this seems to be a somewhat common occurence, but I have not seen
any suggestions about circuit changes. Looking at the data sheet
for the 1N5711, it does not

I've been using the K2 here in Europe while traveling with temporary

I did a test where I tuned to WWV at 10MHz with the AGC off. I must have
increased the setting at one time to 20. The default is 10. The line out

Propagation was very poor today. Signals were generally weak and plagued by
rapid and deep QSB. There was also a QSO at 14.3045 that bothered us, so we
QSY'ed down 1k to 14.3025. No discussions followed check-ins. We had 13

the possibility of 432 MHz.
The possibility of an internal transverter has been discussed, but it

antenna outputs which can be controlled automatically via the K3. This is the
only way I'd purchase a KPA500 as otherwise I'll keep my Quadra which does
