The KX3 mic input uses a multi barrel jack plug which enables up down channel changing using buttons on the hand mic. I an regular stereo jack is placed into the socket, the radios VFO start to change continuously. To use digital modes, I need to use the mic input to connect to my sound card.

Hugh - I would have thought the best solution would be to buy the correct 4-pole 3.5mm jack plug. These are a standard item available from all good component suppliers. In the UK we have them at Maplin.co.uk under part number QT65V. Perhaps a search on eBay might bring up a supplier nearer you.

Milt, The K3/0 power input is the normal K3 12v power output jack. Because this is an RCA jack, you might want to consider making an adapter cable that has a different jack (APP or other jack). If you leave the RCA plug connected to the K3/0 at all times, there is no problem, but I do not like
