[Elecraft] KX1 Sidetone?

2004-09-16 Thread Richard T. Perry
I've got my KX-1 board construction complete through Part II, and am working the Part II checks. A few questions - First, the sidetone level is VERY low. When the AF Gain is at the 12 o'clock position as per the manual, I can't hear the sidetone on any of the three levels. With the level at

RE: [Elecraft] key down voltage drop

2004-09-16 Thread Bob Boehmer
Reggie - That is really dependent on two things: the power supply design and the current you are drawing. Are you using the same power supply for both the ts570 measurement and the k2 measurement? (Also if you have a light gauge wire between the power supply and the k2 and are using the K2

[Elecraft] K2 Remote/Server

2004-09-16 Thread Mike S
What's the status of K2 Remote and K2 Server? Despite multiple promises otherwise, development seems to have stopped in 2001 with no Server available. Might I suggest that if Elecraft doesn't want to complete these to the promised level, they might make a contribution to the G4ILO K2net project

RE: [Elecraft] key down voltage drop

2004-09-16 Thread Dan Barker
That is very odd indeed. You should measure at the other end of the wires, to see what the radio is seeing, but I'm afraid that would make it even worse. Can you measure the current being drawn? That would be an interesting figure. Are you certain RF isn't getting into the PS or the meter?

Don, there is a sensitivity rating on the better quality earbuds packages. Some of the Sony models are quite efficient among others. The cheap unlisted specs models vary all over the place. Plus, the insulation gets stiff on the Dollar store brands. 72, Stuart K5KVH

Re: [Elecraft] key down voltage drop

2004-09-16 Thread W3FPR - Don Wilhelm
I would suggest that the problem is inside the power supply - perhaps something as simple as a poor connection on the inside of the output terminals. Even the drop you are seeing with the TS-570 seems excessive to me. We don't know the actual current being drawn, but it may be quite

Tom, I can't speak for the latest version of Spectrogram, but you can use version 5 (the last free version) for the K2 filter alignment and not have to fool with all the bells and whistles of the latest stuff. See my website article on K2 Dial Calibration (Step 3) www.qsl.net/w3fpr for

Don, I have both Sony earbuds and The Plug by Koss. The Sony’s may have slightly higher mfg. reported sensitivity, but the The Plug has a sound channel that goes deeper into the ear. The Plug has silicone buds that seal out ambient noise. The Sony’s don’t seal. There used to be a website

I have just discovered that it is possible to remove the entire pin from Z1 when attempting to remove a wire soldered to it, as Z1's pins are themselves soldered into a small PC board. It goes back in, but it's not fun to fix. ___ Elecraft mailing
