Guys,
Does anybody here use the K3 with the IC-2kl amp? Is the negative ALC
modifcation really necessary?

Hi.
I ordered my KRX3 on 2008-08-21. Today the Katiegramm
announced it with the KDVR3 to come within about 2 weeks.

Many thanks for taking the time for a considered reply.
Also to all the other respondents.
I've checked the power cable and connectors - all is seated correctly and
firm.
I'll just turn the wick down on my K3.

Yes it is, EXCEPT remember that the K3 band data outputs are open drain,
whereas the Yaesu output is TTL. So your external band decoding device
needs to have internal pull-up

Adam,
I don't have the KDVR3 fitted.
I suspect it's because I'm running too much output power causing the K3 current
sensors to trip.
I'm going to try reducing my output power a little and see if that cures it.

The question was specifically with respect to BCD output -

I have an 811-H connected to my K3 running 500 to 600 watts cw. I have
problems that might be similar to yours. I get loud, fuzzy, cw tones on
both my noise canceling head phones my external speakers. Both these items

Heh, that's funny, I just requested the same thing...
However, you can get several scan rates by using FINE, COARSE or RATE.
These give you aprox 150 Hz/sec, 1.5 KHz/sec and several kHz/sec, if I
recall.
I wouldn't mind having an intermediate rate between the two slowest
ones. One seems too

John,
It is difficult to say because the 2 transistors are tightly coupled.
One thing I can say is that the emitter voltage is suspect. Both
emitters are tied to the ground plane and should be at the same RF
potential. OTOH, the difference between 24mv and 0.4mv could be
