Thanks Geoff. I guessed it must be a meter issue. The K2 has just gone on to
pass its first powered up tests (where's my corkscrew? I must celebrate).
The meter was a cheapy, bought to test motorbike magneto ignition :o)
Hows things in the old country?

Hello,
since mounting firmware 4.60, I have noticed that when I use WSJT software in
K3 transverter mode
the output power (0-1mW) is unstable. I see this expecially when I start new tx
sequence.
With previous firmwares , I didn't have any trouble.
Does someone have this trouble, or similar

As I recall most power tools are made for right-hand folks which
makes them awkward for south-paws at best. While in the service
and qualifying with a rifle on odd years I did lefthand and even
years I did righthand and I have to tell you the M14 is darned
awkward for a lefty.

installation of the update much easier. If you are using a
non-Windows system, there is a relatively easy download procedure
using a terminal program to apply the update. (Just ask!)

the 5 you have been running for years!
Still, actually stating that you would opt for more power is

Is there anything else I should try before replacing the chip???
Keep looking. Those diode measurements should be telling. If you
don't find it by Monday, drop tech support an email. gary is always
very good at helping solve problems like these.

note, removing C38 should cause the amplifier to return to
its normal operating voltages except for the RS-232 circuit. Now the
question is that if indeed the MAX1406 is bad, how did it happen?

be interesting to change the KIO2's crystal to 18.432 to see
if the spurs you are encountering go away (or get moved to somewhere
less interesting).
