I was waiting and waiting for the K3 and ended up buying a Yaesu
FT-2000D. The FT-2000D is a great rig, and I like it for sure. Now
my new K3 arrived, but I can't really afford to keep both.
I wonder if I could get it built before field day, if so, it would be
a great time to test both rigs and

I had a similar problem with my K1 while I was building it. It turned
out to be diode D5.
The radio would hear very strong signals, things that were S9+ on
other HF rigs, but on the K1, sounded very very weak.

Freight Tools will give good results - cheap DMMs are accurate,
they do take more time for the readings to settle down than the expensive

haven't been on HF long enough to know what 15 meters will be like in
a few years, but I expect that most activity will be between 21000 and
21080 kHz. If I get a few extra kHz of bandwidth, that is great too.

Thanks everyone. I thought it was right, but until now, the value
listed in the table matched exactly what was printed on the component.
It has been soldered nicely into place. I'm just about finished the

My K3 VFO A knob doesn't seem to want to do anything. It won't change the
frequency, nor will it change the settings in the menu. My first guess is
that the encoder is bad. VFO B works fine. Is there any way I can verify

Have you seen the ERR 12V message?
I have an older K3 and ran into a problem where my 100 watt PA wasn't
working. It turns out that there is a weak point in the power delivery
connector & Elecraft had a fix for it out years ago, it just took a long
time for mine to fail.
I contacted support and

Hey Jim,
Replacing my external box (US Interface Navigator) with the KIO3B was
a change I was glad to make to my K3. Audio levels are controlled two
ways, 1, in the K3 menus and 2, in the computer operating system sound
settings. The application may also have adjustments for the audio
levels.
I share a property line with another ham. Some of his low band wires are
within a wavelength of my vertical. When he's transmitting, I rarely
notice with K3 unless I'm really close. The IC-7300, he can wipe out my
receive if we are trying to work on the same portion of the band.
