Because not everyone has a G4 or G5, and the thought is to have the
package build exactly the same on every system (including G3s).

with the gcc 3.3 update (g77 3.3.1 won't work if you have the gcc 3.3
update). There is nothing special about the 20030827 snapshot - it was
just the latest one available when I built the package.

netcdf needs it. I don't think there are any others. I think it is the
f2c package that is broken by the gcc 3.3 update however, not fort77.

- fink install python-2.2.2-4. And for what it's
worth, in my experience python23 is already quite stable (I use it daily).
However, there's no getting around the fact that when you update python
from 2.2 to 2.3, all python modules (e.g. Numeric, PIL, etc) need to be
rebuilt.
