: [Flexradio] More Flex in contesting

I wrote a blog entry on how my station is set up for SO2R like operation. I
don't run much contesting but I do run on 2 bands for DXing quite often which
is the equivalent

Perhaps you failed to grasp what I wrote
I can most definitely listen to 2 bands at once. In fact I can work 2 pileups
at once. I don't need a bunch of fancy filters because I don't have problems
with receiver desense. There is a means that you can add such filters into the
receiver chain

Lee,
I think your illustration was very helpful. The real issue, however, is not
the ability to listen on 2 bands, but the ability to transmit on 2 bands, one
after another, with different antennas and amplifiers, without upfront
assignment of bands to ports.

The other thing that is lacking for external program control of SO2R are a few
CAT commands specific to triplex operation
In the transceiver environment there is basically a VFOA and a VFOB, but in the
triplex environment there is also a VFOC, the TX VFO. What is needed is a CAT
command that
,
another gets shoved back down.

CAT commands are only accessible extensions of the software program get/set
properties, when/if Flex adds the properties, I will be more than happy

Carl,
Actually, if you turn split on with RX2 installed, you have the option of
transmitting on the VFO B frequency (the RX2 frequency), or you can transmit
on a second frequency set on VFO A.

Isn't the transmit VFO either VFO A or VFO B depending on whether or not SPLIT
is on? I guess I assumed the RX2 followed VFO B and with split on that meant
you transmitted on the RX2 frequency and with split off that meant you
transmitted

Something I was thinking about SO2R during the last RTTY contest. If I
understand the N1MM program correctly you also need two instances of MMTTY
running. How does one connect one instance to RX1 and the other to RX2? I
am speaking of the RX audio from each RX. If there is a way I have been
MAYBE one MMTTY on a soundcard and the other MMTTY via VAC???
I was playing with a soundcard but never tried using RX2 on it.

Mark,
This is not very elegant but maybe use the PWR speaker output and
VAC.. RX1 to VAC, pan the RX1 to one side maybe left and RX2 panned
to the right and use the PWR speaker out to the computer sound card and
have the other instance of N1MM pointed to the sound card instead of
VAC.

Two steps forward, one step back. I am surprised that the second RX is not
that well integrated into the overall design. I guess not much demand

A logical block diagram of what needs to be integrated would be of great
help. From that we can look at the best way to accomplish the desired
outcome. Input is welcomed.
