Greetings. Lately when I attempt to turn on the Flex 5000 nothing
happens...repeated attempts will eventually result in the power coming on.
Then when I attempt to turn off the 5000 I have the same issue...won’t turn off
without repeated attempts. Press and hold, press quickly and release,
Game changer? Makes me a bit apprehensive seeing as how I just got my 5000
and haven't powered it up yet. I would not be a happy camper to have bought
one of the very last of the OLD ones instead of one of the first of the
new ones.

Perhaps not related, but my switch power switch does not always make
good contact. The button used to stick and I had to reposition the front
panel ever so slightly and it still acts up at times. Sometimes I can
see the LED sputtering from poor contact. It is not the most reliable
switch.

If they do put out a new piece of hardware that becomes their new flagship, you

Just my opinion.

If that is it, I agree with Flex. The Hercules is truly a game-changer.

I use an Arrow Antenna for 144/433 work and it plays very well with TS-790A.
At max 144 power (35 watts) it generates a few birdies on 432 downlink but I
reduce power to about 15 watts and they are gone.
The antenna is up about 15' with 25' runs of RG-213 to the rig. Bon, NZ5A

Paul,
I use separate antennas, but have found that setting the AGC-T properly is
essential. If set too high, it will amplify the noise, and it wipes out the
downlink. By backing off, per the instructions in the manual, RX works very
well.
If I found the correct antenna on the Gulf Alpha site,

Alan, thanks for this tip. I wasn't the original writer of this issue but will
try it. When I do reduce power it gets rid of birdies and intermodal on the
downlink but makes it very marginal to make contacts near the horizon. This
should help.
