I just merged the release/2.4.0 branches up to tag version/2.4.0-final
into the master branch of SimGear and FlightGear.
The intention for the master branch of the two code repositories is to
always hold the current version.
For consistency, I'd like to have the same strategy on fgdata sometime

Providing packages for FreeBSD is a waste of effort as FlightGear is
available as a port on FreeBSD and I'm convinced they'll upgrade to
2.4.0 soon.

Actually I bought an el cheapo (EKEN m009s) android tablet for the explicit
purpose of trying to use it as a rudimentary MFD, exploiting also the touch
screen interface. Currently I am playing a bit with HTML5 features, but a
native implementation would probably be better and would free up CPU
