Fossil Wiki syntax accepts HTML tags. See:

https://www.fossil-scm.org/index.html/wiki_rules

The test Fossil I shared now has a comment on the test ticket with this
Wiki-formatted text, pointing at a checked-in image:

Re: [fossil-users] wiki in ticket comments??

2017-08-15 Thread Steve Schow
well figured it out.. for some reason my main repository had the following
options enabled in Admin:Configuration

Use HTML as wiki markup language

I’m not sure why it was enabled. Turned it off and enumeration works fine now.

its unfortunate, I think maybe I had that on because I have some wiki pages
that use some embedded graphics and I think I had to turn that on and use HTML
or something to in order to properly format my wiki page. But apparently that
forces the ticket comments to also use HTML instead of wiki… Is there a way to
display pictures on wiki pages done with pure wiki markup?

Actually yea, a wiki page I had with a nice diagram on it, now doesn’t show the
diagram, only a little icon in its place, so I guess something about that
setting enabled me to make a nice wiki page, but I’d rather have enumeration
lists in ticket comments… is it possible to have a diagram on my wiki page
without that HTML option checked?

I apologize to those who have tried the link since I created it: I forgot that

i’m getting the same result with new tickets, or adding on to tickets, makes no
difference.

I can see that last year when I was using fossil more actively I created some
tickets with enumerated lists, but I can’t recall how I actually did it. its
possibly i had to use HTML directly I vaguely recall having some trouble with
this before also… but I’d rather not have to use HTML if possible.

Here’s a freshly-created Fossil repository with one ticket, formatted as you
ask:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6JrNPgaCV7RYldEc0d6MnpXTGc

What happens if you add a new ticket to that repository, or add a new comment
on my test ticket?

By “no breaks” I meant between the list items. You still need them between
normal paragraphs.

Also, realize that when adding new comments to an existing ticket, the
formatting mode for the new comment will be “[links only]” by default unless
you have customized the ticket system to override that. By default, if you
want new comments to be Wiki, you have to enable it each time.

I tested this before sending my prior reply. I got it to behave the way you
say you want in a new ticket I had to file locally anyway.

yes the wiki menu item is selected

yes no blank lines are present, still getting unformatted results. for example

This is some paragraph
  # item one
  # item two

this results in:

This is some paragraph # item one # item two

There are two ways I can see that happening:

1. You didn’t select Wiki from the “Format” drop-down. The default “links-only”
format doesn’t format numbered lists the way you want.

2. Wiki formatting doesn’t allow spaces between paragraphs. They have to butt
up against each other:

  # Item 1
  # Item 2

This is ugly when the items have long lines, but it’s a limitation of wiki
formatting.

This is one reason I want Markdown as a formatting option in tickets.
