apache halting during log rotation

problem rotating apache logs

which is intended to cause a graceful restart. However, I find that although I do get a rotated log file the new logs always seem to be empty. The logs seem to start growing only after I restart the apache server. What am I doing wrong? -- Robin Becker

serial console install

into a freebsd installer. I assume that I will be able to see the installer in my serial console and will be able to do the normal install, but do I get the opportunity to do some editing of /boot/loader.conf /etc/ttys to allow the HD boot to show up in my console? -- Robin Becker

Anybody have any strong opinions on this for a freebsd 6.1 web server? We are currently using a 2.40GHz celeron which is fairly slow. I'm hesitant to switch to 64 bits, are there any gotchas for freeBSD? -- Robin Becker ___ freebsd-questions

Building GVim

I'm trying to build GVim for PCBSD 1.2 with the ports system. The build goes fine, but when running GVim it refuses to start the Gui on the grounds that it can't find any fonts. PCBSD is pretty much freebsd 6.1 with KDE 3.5, can anyone advise on what I'm overlooking? -- Robin Becker
