The research on crypto is out there but be ready for a lot of medical articles.:-) If you know somebody with a copy of Reptile Medicine and Surgery (edited by Mader), ithas awhole chapter on it (it's a little old but the info is pretty good). Also try searching the web for articles by Michael

Glad that you have a pair of blizzards to keep you company. Were they malnourished when you rescued them?
What about zapping the wood in your microwave for 30 seconds or so to "sterilize" it? The bark does have a tendency to "want" to separate from the wood.
