jerry: check on bugzilla.kernel.org for my bug that I submitted. Try the synaptics driver and possibly the other fix by adding no extensions to the mouse options. You can find more info in the bug that I wrote on the bugzilla kernel site. I have gotten my touchpad to work on my Dell 8100.
