Perhaps a stupid thing, but I remember having to switch from mesa to nvidia
(I don't have a radeon so I'm not sure this is relevant at all) via
opengl-update before I got DRI to work properly.

a dual monitor setup (dual head ATI 7500). I have got the single monitor drm
working, but I am still wrestling
