of OSS (which is recommended into the kernel configuration)

Now that I've finally got my joystick working, I can't remember what game I wanted it for
from about 6 months ago when I originally tried to get it working. So now, in order to
justify the time I spent getting the joystick to work, I'm looking for a good Linux game
that supports the joystick ;)

get the joystick port to even be recognized using OSS or ALSA. I decided to remove this
card and try for the onboard sound and gameport on my MSI K7T Turbo mobo. I was able to
get the joystick to work

I used to use one of those. When you modprobe es1371 you have to give
option joystick=true (something like that anyway).

I managed to get something to happen. I emerged alsa-utils. I did
'alsactl store', edited the file /etc/asound.state to enable the
joystick, and then 'alsactl restore'. I then did 'modprobe
analog' and
'modprobe joydev'.
I get these lines in my dmesg but still no /dev/input/js0:

I have all of those options enabled in my 2.6 kernel and I don't get and
/dev/input/js0 device.
I had the same problem, mabe you have to load the joydev module. I've all my
joystick asa module, so in my modules_autoload I've added: analog, and
joydev.

Are you sure that you don't have to add an extra option to the alsa driver.
I'm not familiar with you card, but I had to use another module for mine (SB
