the only way i can achieve positive effect printing non-ascii is
TestPage from Cups www-interface. None of AbiWord, Ggv, Gimp works.
Do you have ppd and cups in your USE line. If you don't have ppd, gimp-print
will not make the ppd files needed. So if you don't, set ppd in use line and
rebuild

sure it can work correctly cause it worked on rh 6.22 or 7.0 when i
used it some years ago. i've read installation guide from gentoo.org and
a bit of documentation to cups but i haven't found any explanation why
