I find it hard to make sure that I deal with restarting software after I upgrade, so since I found the debian package debian-goodies contains a tool called checkrestart, that checks if any in memory applications is referencing old code, I converted it to using qfile and qlist from portage-utils.

I use wpa_supplicant with madwifi and everything works perfectly with one strange exception. At boot time, when net.ath0 tries to start, it complains that the address is still in use and doesn't start! I look at the process list and find wpa_supplicant is always running when I start.
