[gentoo-user] vncviewer from package vnc crashes.
Greetings, I use vncviewer from package vnc version 4.1.2-r4 (latest Gentoo stable) connecting to an MSXP machine and it crashes when I maximize the window. From the shell:vncviewer: TXScrollbar.cxx:47: void TXScrollbar::set(int, int, int, bool): Assertion `limit_ 0 len_ = 0 len_ = limit_' failed. I experienced many problems with this package like that when vncviewer to an MS machine it sometimes got it's network hang for a few minutes (didn't respond to ping. seem to me that rapid graphics update was performed when it hanged) but I don't even know on which side are the problems. Any recommendations? -- Regards. David Harel, == Home office +972 77 7657645 Fax:+972 77 7657645 Cellular: +972 54 4534502 Snail Mail: Amuka D.N Merom Hagalil 13802 Israel Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thanks to Ralf and Dan who tried to help here. Funny thing though, When I do the emerge I get the bash debug prompt: Reading /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/openssl-0.9.8f/work/openssl-0.9.8f/Configure: [= ] 53% done. Anyway, I use kernel 2.6.20-gentoo-r8 and I had headers of 2.6.22 so I removed that and installed sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.20-r2. It says I have to recompile glibc. The bug report doesn't include any usable information. You need to explain on the bug what you've done and you need to attach the complete build log that I'm quite sure portage provides the location for. Attached the log. Hope it's what you need. I am ashame to say I haven't looked into it so I don't know if there is anything obvious I failed to do. If that is the case, I apologize. I don't need it. The bug report needs it. Together with an explanation of what you have done with your system. Without more information on it your bug report is useless. Your system appears to be quite borked though. Apparently /dev is not populated properly, linux-headers appears to be missing and I have no idea what else might be broken. I'm inclined to just suggest `emerge -e system` or a complete reinstall unless someone else has a better suggestion. In the future if you ever attach a log file like that on this mailing list again please compress it first (note: do not compress attachments on bugzilla though). Re: [gentoo-user] emerge freealut fails.
Sorry for being stupid here but I don't know what else to add to this problem. The bad file is alutInit.c the bad line is: if (!alcCloseDevice (device)) I couldn't find where the function is but obviously it returns the wrong data type. I was advised to emerge sync. Did that recently (about 2-3 weeks) but I'll do it again to be on the safe side. [gentoo-user] openssl 0.9.8 installs /usr/lib/openssl.so.0.9.7 only
Hi all, I screwed up my openssl installation. Since then, I have to keep links in /usr/lib that will link libssl.so.0.9.8 - libssl.so.0.9.7 and similar for libcrypto. upgrades/downgrades/leftgrades and even rightgrades didn't work. Thank you so much, your advice cured my machine. Hadn't noticed revdep-rebuild before. Re: [gentoo-user] Panic at boot time after update kernel to 2.6.20-r8.
Thank you both Neil Bothwick andAlan McKinnon for the great help. Got this one working now. Still many features arn't working yet such as alsa and wifi but I think I will make it now. The driver I needed seem to be AHCI SATA. Was rather difficult to identify that that is the right driver because lspci states: 00:1f.2 SATA controller: Intel Corporation 82801FBM (ICH6M) SATA Controller (rev 04) and you can't find 82801 in .config Also it seems to me that the driver should be statically loaded and not as a module (which now makes sense unless I could have changed things in modules.conf or similar). [gentoo-user] compile errors when emerging kdelib-3.5.5-r8
Hi all, I did some upgrades and I guess I screwed something up cos I can't compile kdelib anymore. I tried with kdelib-3.5.6 as well but seems like the same problem. Dependencies showed I should have done qt-3.3.6-r4 and to be on the safe side I unmerged qt-4.2.2 (which I emerged unintentionally). Also I had trouble with glibc-2.5 that made me do gcc to 4.4.1-r3 and gcc-config as well. last operation before errors is linking libartskde.la and then a shower of undefs. Re: [gentoo-user] emerge openssl starts a bash debug session.
I am afraid the problem is not as simple as you try to describe it. to begin with, here is the result of find on stddef.h # find / -mount -name stddef.h /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.6/include/stddef.h /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.6/install-tools/include/stddef.h /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/include/stddef.h /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.5/install-tools/include/stddef.h /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.1.1/include/stddef.h /usr/include/linux/stddef.h /usr/include/wine/msvcrt/stddef.h /usr/src/linux-2.6.15-gentoo-r1/include/linux/stddef.h /usr/src/linux-2.6.17-gentoo-r8/include/linux/stddef.h but also I must mention that I was successful in compiling openssl manually by cd to /var/tmp/portage/openssl-0.9.8d/work/openssl-0.9.8d and then do ./config and make it all came out just fine.
