Lesser MSWindows versions do not seem to allow connections via RDP and

AFAIK, PRNP is just a way to make the RDP sessions hook-up - it's usually
integrated with
Windows Messenger IM client. If they have Remote Assistance available, then
they also have the
ability to enable RDP - it's in the same location to enable, though I think
only
Remove Assistance is enabled by default.

Just have them go (via Classic Control Panel):

Start-Settings-Control Panel-System.

Then click on the Remote tab, which presents options for Remote Assistance
and Remote Desktop.

I don't think RDP is available on Win2k without licenses - it's just Terminal
Services. However, it is available
on WinXP and later; however, without the Terminal Services licenses you cannot
be logged in at the same time.

Only the Professional/Ultimate/Enterprise have the RDP functionality.
The bottom half of the configuration popup with the options for RDP is
missing from Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium versions.

As I said, lesser Windows versions only have Remote Assistance. They
do not come with a 'terminal services' server:

I've been trying to find a Linux tool to connect to a Windows box which has
issued a PRNP invitation, but can't find a means of doing this.  Is this all
completely proprietary or is there some UPnP linux solution that works?

Yeah, I'd like to find a simple solution for this also. Currently I
use VNC for Linux remote support. For Windows remote I run VMWare/Win
XP and run Go2Meeting. It would be great to do that all from my KDE
desktop without depending on XP. Go2Meeting is a paid subscription
which I use for trading so it's not a good solution for others.

First I'd fix the human/social problems, then the technical ones.

If you lose friends because you can't help them with Windows... Jezz.

The tell them to install TightVNC as otherwise there's didly-squat you can do
