TCP Listener on port 9200
Also, bear in mind that starting and stopping background processes in
VistA is not instantaneous. Unfortunately, standard MUMPS doesn't
providwe support for mechanisms like FIFOs or even signals.
Unfortunately, this means that it is necessary for background processes
to implement some kind of

Try running netstat. You cannot have multiple processes listening on
the same port at the same IP address (interface).

In fact, this is what is normally done. Instead of trying to implement
server processes in MUMPS, it is usual to implement serices running
under the control of the OS for SMTP, HL7, etc. I can't speak to the
configuration you are using, but the right thing to do would be to run

Mark,
Mark, I'm guessing you're dealing with a non-veteran population.
I don't have time to test using the Fileman Import function, but I was able
to get a record into the patient file programmatically by filling in the
fields Mr. Holloway calls out in his message, as I expected I could.

Let me revise that, because I was thinking new listener. Instead, set up the
machines on your network so they trust each other because it takes multiple

Since IO is implementation dependent, standard MUMPS does not say
anything that I am aware of about supporting or not supporting named
pipes (FIFOs).
Note that GT.M does support IO to FIFOs and does have a means for an M
process to handle an asynchronous interrupt (SIGUSR1), and it's all
