have the book, but I remember it. It is out of print, but some
Amazon.com resellers have new and used copies.

Could you be thinking of the Aleph-Bet Story Book by Deborah Pessin,
published by JPS. The stories are not about how each letter got its
name, but there's a story for each letter that relates to its name.
The first one is about creation. As the book progresses through the

published by JPS. I think the cover of the one we had was
reddish-brown (or brownish-red?).

Hello,
I am trying to remember the name of a book of short stories about the
Aleph-Bet and Creation, in English.
There were stories about how each letter got its name. All I can
remember is the old brown cover, and the little illustrations at the
beginning of each chapter about each letter.
