This is actually funny... I red through this thread and still haven't got a
clue of which dedicated server you are talking all about... hl1? source?
duck hunt server maybe? :) This looks more to me like general flame topic
about lags and how miserable server admin life is :)

I personally haven't noticed any lag spikes on hlds and neither on srcds.
And yes, they are located in Europe, VAC enabled.

Hello,
Customers are saying the issue eased up late last night and that they
havent seen any spikes since... I've been on a server for a good
30minutes with no spikes.
Anyone else still having issues ?

Issue seems to be fixed after a clientside steam update. Guess we will
never know what actual happened and who fucked up.

As of yesterday we were also seeing this behavior, I cannot confirm if the
previous post of a client side update fixing the problem is true for us at
this point.

Yeah, every 5-10 minutes 2-3 secs lag. I didn't test if it's VAC based
or not, yet.

You'll need at least 10 more complaints before that happens :) I did
have a friend of mine mention his euro servers were lagging arse
though for the past while and it wasn't network based.

Same Issue here. Since yesterday 17th May 2009 we see every few minutes
spiekes in HLSW and ingame there is a short lag of 1 or 2 seconds. It feels
and looks like the VAC issue mentioned in December 2008 and January 2009. I
think this is a valve / steam issue and they have to fix it again.
i can´t report any laggs and any spikes... my Server are constable at
1000fps... without any high pings or something else...

We are getting these lags as well... Both mostly srcds servers, but a
few hlds customers have complained about lags... the lag varies from
rarely to quite often.
I have been going through gameservers, storageservers, network/switches,
firewalls and cant find anything wrong... nothing

I just setup a new Left 4 Dead server on CentOS and have had several of
my friends complain about this, though they are very sure it has nothing
to do with the server itself. So far I have found nothing wrong on the
