You want the link.. why? To gloat? To use the login password?
I did a little googleing based on the information said on the first post
and the it's only erics, miked and michaeld's password that has been
discovered. Propably through bruteforce attacks so not everyone's

I use generic passwords for stuff online anyway. Important stuff is
protected by a password that would take millenia to bruteforce ;)

Try running the update on the server manually.
I have this error message sometimes and it's because the -autoupdate part of
the startup script can't do the update for some reason. To get round it, break
out of the server and step one directory back (cd ..) then type:
./steam -command update
No it doesn't, the master server is broken and needs to be fixed.

This sadly does not fix the Problem for good, ive disabled autoupdate on
all our servers, still some get the MasterServer restart request .. for
whatever unknown reason.
Cant be to hard to fix but valve seems to ignore the problem since
the original post on the steam forum is quite dated.
If you disable the autoupdate, it will not restart your server, you can
ignore it, it works fine.

Agreed, we also have this issue. I would like a comment from Valve
regarding this matter. And even better a solution.

That would suggest you aren't on the list, and the reason your emails
are getting sent fine is because they are being accepted by the moderator?
Double-check your subscription using the link on the bottom of the email.

What email does the list send stuff to?
When I signed up for these lists, i used @gmail.com instead of
@googlemail.com. Of course it complained when I sent an email and it was
different to my subscribed address.

This is fixed, the bad config on the offending server has been corrected.

My bad, reading comprehension ftw. There are other hl1 master servers,
though - 69.28.151.162, for instance. If the issue is bad master
servers, there should be others to use. If servers are being
auto-assigned a dead server, that's certainly a problem.
