I have not used it since we did away with impact printers and 3420 style
tape drives.

Hi John,
We have a few 3490 c22 drives and a couple of 3590 Magstar, so we have the
potential to run it. I have not actually run it from roughly 10 years.

OLTEP. I recognize the name, but I had to check the manual to know
what's under the acronym. It seems to be related to hardware control
units. I have never used it, I have never had an idea to use it.
Well, I can say that I don't need OLTEP.

1) I know what it is. Not currently in use.
2) I probably haven't used it in 20 years or more. (actually, I never
did, It was only run at Customer Engineer request).

I have only run it at the request of a CE working on broken tape drives. I
can't remember the last time it was requested or run (perhaps late 80s). As
long as the CE can fix the tape drive problem without OLTEP, I'm quite happy

We had a 3rd shift oper clean the TN train with a typewriter brush and
acetone. When I got there the CE was washing it in the break room sink and
putting in new slugs for the ones that were torn up when it 'froze up'!

IIRC IBM never provided the actual tests (OLTs) to customers. OLTEP is
just the framework (executive) for running the mostly
hardware-specific OLTS, and those came via the CE channel
