Hello All,
The recent availability of the Sony SRF-PSY03 Service Manual (which has
circuitry identical to that of the SRF-59) has given us the ability to turn
total turkey units into screaming DX birds of prey!
After performing seven of these full alignments, and seeing all

Hi John,
I was actually wondering if they had copied your switching network,
although I'm sure you build yours with better quality parts! I like
your arrangement - quick, simple and neat. Unfortunately, it won't work

I find it interesting that this is 15 year old technology.
I wonder what's in the works now?
Also in the same issue of the journal was an article detailing a

digital tuning, but also implemented circuitry for a digitally tuned

Excellent article, Gil!!! And the illustrations are truly worth1000
words. One thing that you didn't mention (or maybe I missed) is how
the outboard ferrite bar affects the vaunted nulling ability of the
'59. Better, worse, the same? I'm sure it would be an intuitive
judgement at this
I don't know if it affected Patrick but it smacked us pretty good. Even worse
up in the Sacramento area. Driving around this morning/early afternoon noted
lots of downed trees. Power still

Hi Guys:
I managed to do a bit of late afternoon DX'ing on the SRF-59 today,
while waiting for the Wife to get home from work.
Managed to add 5 more stations to the SRF-59 Logbook bringing the Total
heard now to 130 Stations. I have yet to sit down with this Radio and not
get something new
Not surprisingly, they are producing a near local like signal in Abbeville
Greenwood, SC tonight

On AM, as I tune across the band - it's like something in the tuning mechanism
interferes with the radio. It's like a crackling, scratching sound . It stops
shortly after you stop tuning and settle on a station. Very annoying.

course, alignment does not cure this problem, and
